Questions:

What's a newsgroup?

A newsgroup is a way to host discussion forums on the Internet. People can post messages to the group, and everyone else who reads the group can see them. Newsgroups are a great place to learn about things because you ask questions and recieve intellegent replies, as well as answer other people's questions. If you have a question, its likley that someone else has had it in the past, and by looking at subjects, you can find the question and a response you need.

Haptek is offering these public discussion groups in addition to our normal support system. Customers can come here to find answers quickly when our support system is overloaded. It also can be used to share tips and tricks with others. You can also show off your latest and greatest VirtualFriend or PeoplePutty creations by posting their URL to the annoucement group!

Where do I get newsreader software?

To access newsgroups, you will need newsreader software. It is likely that your web browsing software already has it installed. Try going to our newsgroups list, and see if you can click on the links and it brings you to a discussion area. If not, we suggest downloading Xnews to access our server.

How do I configure my software?

When configuring your software to access our server, make sure that your NNTP server is set to be abe.haptek.com. From there you can subscribe to groups, and join in on the discussion.
