Getting Started with VirtualFriend™ 2
Users of this document meet the system requirements for downloading VirtualFriend and must remove previous versions of VirtualFriend 2.x from the target machine. This help document is divided into sections for easy reference. The topics appear in the table below.

Before downloading the CD or web site version of VirtualFriend, remove previous versions from your system, so complications don't result. To remove previous versions of VirtualFriend, do the following:1. In your Windows toolbar, click Start.
2. Scroll to Settings, and choose Control Panel.
3. Double-click the Add/Remove Programs button.
4. In the Add/Remove programs window, scroll and highlight the previous version/s of VirtualFriend.
5. Click the Add/Remove button.
Now you can download the software from our web site or install it from your CD.
Starting VirtualFriend
1. Double-click the VirtualFriend icon on your desktop or access VirtualFriend through the Windows Start menu.A window appears that gives you a choice of characters.
2. In the VirtualFriend selection window, use the arrow buttons to scroll through the character choices.
3. Click on the picture of the character you wish to see.
The interface window appears and the character begins talking to you and requesting your interaction. You are
guided through the program's interface and various programs.Obtaining and Entering a License Code
Certain features of VirtualFriend are not available until you have licensed your copy of the software. The licensing for VirtualFriend can be purchased here. License codes are short codes that look like this: "HE27IKL902M". After you buy the license, enter your license code intoVirtualFriend by doing the following.1. Double-click the VirtualFriend icon on your desktop, or access VirtualFriend through the Windows Start menu.
A window appears that gives you a choice of characters.
2. In the VirtualFriend selection window, use the arrow buttons to scroll through the character and script choices.
3. Click on the picture of the character you wish to see.
The Interface window appears. You may want to click the Shut Up! button, so you can have quiet while you work.
4. In the upper left corner of the interface window, click the exclamation mark icon button.
5. Keep clicking the exclamation mark icon button until the Licensing control panel appears on the right side of the interface window.
6. In the Licensing control panel, type your license code in the type-in field.
Note: Be sure to enter the correct letters and numbers. License codes contain various upper and lower case letters
to avoid confusion between the fonts used by different machines, but the software is not case sensitive. Watch for L’s
versus 1’s, O's versus 0, and u’s versus v’s.A window appears indicating that your license has been accepted. Have fun!
